What’s Wood Burning Stove

Log burners, wood burning stoves or pellet stoves are names for the same thing. Essentially a wood burning stove is a metal box with a tube coming out of the top called a wood burning stove flue. Wood in a number of different formats is placed into the woodstove and is burned to generate heat.

A series of primary air vent / regulation holes are found at the front of the woodstove which can be opened and closed to provide more or less oxygen to the fire. This gives the user control over the temperature. On some models you’ll find two air vents, but on others there is just one.

Another feature called airwash is present in some log burner fireplaces, which is primarily there to keep the glass window clean, enabling you to enjoy your fire without worrying about tar and deposits distorting the view. Airwash works by automatically pushing the air from above the stove window during use.
